- For whom:
The course is designed for staff working in schools and preschools who wish to improve their Icelandic language skills and use the language in daily communication with children, parents, and colleagues. It is suitable for beginners (A1.1–A1.2).
- Objectives:
The goal is to build a solid foundation in Icelandic, increase confidence in speaking and understanding, and enhance the ability to use Icelandic effectively in everyday work and communication within the school community.
- The course will cover the following topics:
• vocabulary related to clothing, colors, and children’s daily situations,
• food, items used during meals, and table communication,
• play and learning – verbs and vocabulary used in school and preschool activities,
• emotions and feelings – expressing and understanding simple emotions,
• key concepts and questions useful in school and preschool work.
- Additional information:
The course emphasizes active participation and practical exercises connected to everyday professional tasks. Audio recordings, , visual materials, communication exercises, and group work are used. Teaching is conducted in clear, simple Icelandic and combines theory with real-life use.

- For whom:
The course is intended for staff working in schools and preschools who have completed level A1.1–A1.2 and wish to improve their ability to communicate in Icelandic in everyday professional situations with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Objectives:
The goal is to help participants take a more active part in daily communication in Icelandic, handle different situations at work, and express themselves with more confidence and accuracy. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary and language use relevant to the school and preschool environment.
- The course will cover the following topics:
• communication with colleagues – asking for help, discussing tasks and meals,
• communication with children – explaining, guiding, and solving tasks together,
• communication with parents – discussing health, well-being, and children’s routines,
• describing the body, health vocabulary, and expressing illness or discomfort,
• noun and verb conjugations, auxiliary verbs, and expanding workplace vocabulary,
• sentence structure, common questions, and practical everyday expressions.
- Additional information:
The course is taught in clear and simple Icelandic with a focus on active participation and realistic practice. Audio materials, images, and dialogues related to the school environment are used to strengthen confidence and fluency.

- Assessment for obtaining a certificate:
It is necessary to complete 80% attendance and actively participate in classes to receive a graduation certificate. At the end of the course, there will be a short review of the course material.
- For whom:
The course is intended for staff working in schools and preschools who have completed level A2.1 and wish to deepen their knowledge of Icelandic grammar, vocabulary, and spoken interaction used in daily communication with children and colleagues.
- Objectives:
The goal is to develop fluency and confidence in speaking and understanding Icelandic, improve the use of adjectives, verbs, and cases, and enhance the ability to communicate naturally in various professional and everyday situations.
- The course will cover the following topics:
• adjectives and gender – describing people, clothing, and objects,
• accusative and dative cases – correct case usage in everyday speech,
• use of verbs að mega (may) and að geta (can) – permission, ability, and possibility,
• adjectives búinn and tilbúinn – expressing completion and readiness,
• emotions and feelings – expressing and asking about well-being,
• verbs and grammar related to daily work duties,
• review and vocabulary – useful phrases, verb forms, and common questions.

The course emphasizes practical exercises, dialogues, and real-life communication related to everyday work situations. When: Mondays and Wednesdays 19:30-21:30
- Assessment for obtaining a certificate:
It is necessary to complete 80% attendance and actively participate in classes to receive a graduation certificate. At the end of the course, there will be a short review of the course material.
- For whom:
The course is intended for staff working in schools and preschools who have completed levels A1 and A2 and wish to further develop their speaking skills and practical language use in everyday work situations.
- Objectives:
The goal is to improve fluency and confidence in speaking Icelandic, enhance listening comprehension, and promote independent language use in daily communication. The course is conducted in at least 70% Icelandic, with emphasis on using previously learned material in practice.
- The course will cover the following topics:
• morning routines – greeting children and communicating with parents,
• mealtimes – vocabulary and communication related to food and daily routines,
• group activities and shared time – participating in discussions and describing events,
• dressing and outdoor play – talking about clothing, weather, and outdoor activities,
• rest time and free play – vocabulary for everyday situations,
• end of the day – expressing thanks and saying goodbye,
• review of useful vocabulary and grammar related to work,
• using Icelandic to describe one’s experiences and daily tasks.
- Additional information:
Teaching is based on practical exercises, role-plays, and group activities. Grammar is adapted to the group’s level. The course focuses on communication, comprehension, and building confidence in using Icelandic in daily work life.
